According to the U.S. Government Office of Advocacy, as of 2022, there were 33.2 MILLION reported businesses in the United States.
And Business DIT stated that there were approximately 334 MILLION businesses GLOBALLY. Granted, a high percentage of those businesses are small, but they’re still businesses. And every business needs good marketing and outstanding copy.
If you’re an avid writer and have done all of your marketing, GREAT for you! Sincerely! That saves you money, but it does not save you time. I wholeheartedly understand the feeling of taking responsibility for every task to ensure things are getting done correctly. Some would call that “controlling,” but I see it as being proactive and motivated!
However; as time passes and your business picks up, your website content becomes stagnant. There aren’t many updates provided and it will eventually become outdated.
Viewers always want the latest and greatest, no matter what they’re searching for or if they’re just browsing for information.
That’s why you’ve got to keep up with the trends.
Hiring a copywriter to write the appropriate content for your business not only saves you precious time that you don’t currently have, but it’s essential to the continued success of your company.
And how you provide your content will ultimately help you thrive or…well, still struggle to survive.
I’ve met with many successful entrepreneurs and one of the common statements I’ve heard was
“I can run a business like a boss, but marketing is not my forte. I actually hate it, but understand that it’s an imperative part of the job. If I could pay someone else to write engaging and persuasive copy for me, life would be SO much better.”
Can you relate?
Huge-name companies pay an absurd amount of money to copywriters because they understand the benefit of the investment.
Look at it this way:
- You pay $$ for a good copywriter to write blogs for you once a week, a total of 4–5 blogs per month on research topics that people are currently searching on Google.
- Your website is visited more frequently by readers on said topics.
- You build trust and authority with your readers/viewers.
- Eventually, they will sign up for your services.
Or, you can hire a copywriter to do an overhaul audit of your landing page and website content to see how it can be spruced up.
The copywriter would reword content to make it more persuasive and engaging. MOST readers don’t enjoy reading through pages of just words. They want it to read like they’re having an online conversation with you.
Don’t believe me? The next time you’re scrolling through your social media platforms and a catchy headline catch your attention enough to click on it, that was written by a copywriter.
Or an email from your favorite candle company offering you a deal you simply cannot pass up. That was written by a copywriter.
Copywriting exists everywhere.
But I’d also like to stress the importance of finding a qualified copywriter. There are many niche-focused copywriters and you should hire someone who writes for your specific industry. They’re more likely to have a passion for the niche, which results in better-quality content.
There’s nothing wrong with hiring a copywriting generalist, but they are more “floaters” and don’t exactly have expertise in a specific niche. Again, that’s entirely up to you!
Check out portfolios, and samples, and even ask the copywriter to provide you with a small sample tailored specifically to your company’s beliefs and the services/products you offer.
Overall, investing in a copywriter is worth the money and I am not saying it because I’m a copywriter myself, but because I truly believe that you do get what you pay for. Having a good copywriter write great content will double, triple, or even quadruple your profits before you know it!
